Tokyo,December(3)

Originally opened as a botanical garden in 1853, Hanayashiki has changed its area size, managers and use, yet remained open. Now it is well known as the oldest amusement park in Japan. Because the site plot is quite small, amusement equipments are located very densely. When we take one of the high-rise equipments, we can look around Asakusa from the sky. A sense of overlooking the place where we were. It is a place where we can experience the sense of overlooking both usual and unusual scenes.
Now this is an amusement park. What kind of change will happen to it and how it will be adapted in the next decade?

Ripple of Yoyogi-park.

Tiles of the rippled ground.
Round plaza is covered as if ripple had been transmitted to surrounding trees.

Some people gather at the center and dance, while others stand at the outside and looking at the scene.
The change of floor material increases people’s awareness of centrality

About circles and repetition in a plaza, and behavior of people which appears there.

Tama River in summer. Although there is not a big event, people just gather at the river side to play music, eat, drink and play sports. In this density, they share fever of beginning of summer.

A bridge runs over them, like making a separation from the fever. On the bridge, cars pass and people walk without special emotions.

The bridge balances the conflictive sceneries between top and bottom.

A clock of seiko, a play equipment with a faded color, signboards, a sand pit.
A park which we have seen somewhere.
There are usually few people, mostly one or two. I have not seen more than three people in this kind of park.
An old play equipment, a scale of children's park. Originally it is supposed to be everyone's place. However when someone one occupies it, a world that others cannot enter is created.
